Chapter 2 of A Plague Tale

At the end of Chapter 2 of A Plague Tale, after Amicia and Hugo are forced to run from enemies through a maze of a small town, Amicia comes face to face with a massive, armored knight that wields a huge mace. Armed only with some rocks and a sling, players have to defeat this enemy before the brother and sister can take refuge in the church.

Even if new players of A Plague Tale: Innocence have been upgrading their sling, this is not an easy fight to contend with. Players may have to try it a few times to get through it, but thankfully there are some great tips to defeat the knight without getting squished.

A Plague Tale: Innocence Heavy Armored Knight’s Weakness

Players will come across a heavily armored knight in the early hours of the 12-15 hours of A Plague Tale. Through the game so far, players have probably noticed that things that Amicia can aim at and hit with her sling tend to light up a sort of green-yellow color. If players pay attention when the knight slams his mace into the ground, they should see that something on the knight’s shoulders in the back lights up. Amicia will have to dodge out of the way, and while the knight is trying to pick his heavy weapon up off of the ground, players should be able to aim at the knight’s exposed back.

If players hit the green marker on his back, the shoulder guard will fall from his left arm, leaving the next marker on his chest exposed. Wait until the knight has smashed his mace into the ground again by getting close to him and then dodging as he begins his swing. Then hit the marker on his chest, making the metal neck guard fall from his chest.

Amicia can easily run out of rock ammo on this fight; look for constant respawns of rocks on both the barrels to the left of the Church door and in the green area catty corner to the barrels. Once the neck guard is gone, players will need to knock off his helmet. There will be a third hit marker for Amicia’s sling on his back, at the base of his skull.

With less armor, however, the knight will become faster and change his move set. Even brand new players who downloaded A Plague Tale: Innocence as the free PlayStation game for July 2021 will notice how the lack of armor will double his movement speed. Players should wait until he has worn himself out and rests on his mace before trying to hit him.

With this third marker hit, the helmet is gone, and Amicia will be able to hit the heavily armored knight in his face, killing him. After this, A Plague Tale: Innocence players will just have to contend with one of the best video game bosses of 2019: the plague rat swarms.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is available for Luna, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series S/X.
