To get the most out of A Plague Tale: Requiem, the player must focus on unlocking the optimal skills. Through using the appropriate playstyle, they’ll build up the correct tree to unlock the essential skills to thrive in the toughest situations. Having the right skill set will ensure that the player survives the unexpected. These are the best skills to focus on unlocking as soon as possible.
7 Alchemy Knowledge
Alchemy Knowledge is part of the Opportunism skill tree. It doesn’t offer a stunning boost to the player’s abilities. However, what it does is just as valuable. This skill speeds up the crafting time for ammo. While that might not seem like such a big deal, it comes in handy when Amicia is surrounded by enemies and needs to work quickly.
In addition, it allows the player to do more crafting of potions or alchemical items. They will need to have more of a crafting mindset to their gameplay to unlock this skill quickly.
6 Pure Product
The very last skill on the Opportunism skill tree is Pure Product. As such, the player must have a heavy emphasis on crafting throughout the game to build up enough points to unlock this skill. It’s highly beneficial to have, as crafting consumes a lot of resources. It allows the player to craft one additional alchemical ammo for free with every one crafted.

This is a great way to offset the costs of crafting. When the player has difficulty on higher levels, it will also help with the challenge. Additionally, it will be highly beneficial when the New Game Plus mode is enabled.
5 Nimbleness
This skill increases the player’s ability to move faster in a crouch position. They’ll also be able to quickly move from cover to cover, reducing their chances of being spotted. Nimbleness will allow them to get past enemies quickly without engaging if they don’t want to. It makes an excellent pairing with Light Footstep for the ultimate in stealth maneuvering.
To unlock this skill as quickly as possible, players should strive to move quickly and silently past enemies. By staying undetected, they can move past without engaging and killing enemies. This will rapidly drive up their Prudence skill tree bar, helping them achieve access to this skill very quickly. Once they have Nimbleness, they’ll be able to pass enemies undetected much easier and avoid contact altogether if that’s their play style.
4 Vital Points
The more aggressive the player’s style of gameplay, the quicker this skill will be unlocked. Vital Points allows for strangling and incapacitating enemies much more quietly and efficiently. Because of the decrease in the amount of time it takes to get the job done, the player is less likely to be seen by an enemy in the distance as they dispatch their allies.
Because this is an Aggressive skill, the more aggressive the player’s gameplay, the faster it will unlock. If they’re not an aggressive player, they’ll have to switch up their tactics long enough to boost this skill tree to unlock Vital Points.
3 Quick Fingers
Early in the game, this skill may not sound like much, but Quick Fingers is essential to have. It drastically reduces weapon reload speed. Once players obtain the Crossbow, it will become evident why this skill is needed. Reloading the Crossbow is a painfully slow process that leaves players in a precarious position.
This is the best option in the Aggressive skill tree, which means the player will need an aggressive play style to unlock it quickly. It gives the player the opportunity to excel in battle instead of being a sitting target as they reload. It’s a great skill to have toward the later stages of the game. Like all Aggressive skills, the player will need an aggressive mindset with their play style to quickly unlock Quick Fingers.
2 Light Footstep
While there are plenty of great Aggressive Skills, this Prudence skill ranks among the very top of all available skills in the game. Light Footstep allows the player to move around while making a lot less noise. This means they will be much less detectable to all enemies.

This skill allows for exploration of the combat zone without the risk of detection. It’s great for when the player does not have the means to engage in a fight or simply wants to get through an area as quickly as possible. Light Footstep is one of the early skills that can be unlocked, and the player should strive to get it as soon as possible to aid in all stealth levels.
1 Recovery
Despite how careful they are, there are times when the player may be ambushed. This can be catastrophic for them, and they’ll need a way out. This is where the Recovery skill comes in. It’s an Aggressive skill that is well worth the effort of getting.
The way out of the conflict is often determined by how quickly the player can find new cover. Recovery allows the player to recover from being struck down by an enemy much more quickly. They can then run away or strike back.
A Plague Tale: Requiem is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
