A Plague Tale: Innocence was praised for the amount of detail that went into building its world, taking inspiration from historical European settings, more specifically 14th century France and the effects of the Black Death. This atmospheric narrative is being maintained for A Plague Tale: Requiem, with some recent screenshots focusing on the impressive visuals and graphics of the locales that players will explore. To further intensify the hype for fans, Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment showed off more details of the game at the Tribeca Games Festival.

With Asobo Studio’s presentation at the Tribeca Games Festival focused on A Plague Tale: Requiem, it shows various team members discussing a number of aspects of development. Various cutscenes are shown throughout the presentation, giving an insight into the situation that the characters are facing. This includes how the rat’s bites have returned, which have shown up on various townsfolk in areas like an arena. Amicia herself can be seen in distress as well, with the possibility that the curse that has affected her brother Hugo is now affecting her.
The presentation for A Plague Tale: Requiem also showed off how its stealth and survival gameplay has evolved from its previous entry. It requires Amicia and Hugo to outsmart their enemies and avoid them, though Amicia’s offensive options have been expanded upon a bit. This includes her now being able to utilize a crossbow, which can be used to shoot her enemies from afar and even execute a variety of stealth takedown moves.
More aspects of the game were showcased, such as the motion capture process behind some of the cutscenes that were shown in the presentation, as well as the music compositions. The final cutscene shown off in the presentation reveals one of A Plague Tale: Requiem’s heartwarming moments, with Hugo and Amicia interacting alongside a group of their companions in a bright sunny field.
A Plague Tale: Requiem will release on Nintendo Switch (via Cloud), PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2022.
