A Quiet Place brought audiences into a fictional world where monstrous blind creatures use their hearing to hunt victims, forcing survivors to remain as silent as possible. The sequel further explored that world, but the A Quiet Place spinoff will take place in the past and show fans how that apocalyptic world came to be.

During CinemaCon, Paramount announced that the spinoff will be titled A Quiet Place: Day One. The film will be set during the original days of the alien invasion before the world adapted to a world of silence. Pig director Michael Sarnoski will be helming the spinoff. Sarnoski was brought in to replace Midnight Special director Jeff Nichols. The synopsis for A Quiet Place: Day One reveals that the movie will retell the alien creatures’ first day of arrival on Earth and the decline of the human race.
People have learned what it takes to survive in a world like this by adjusting to the alien’s enhanced auditory senses. While the behemoths are not able to see their prey, they can easily detect exactly where anything and everything is just off of a tiny sound. The second film teased the first day or point of contact, but the spinoff is set to explore that event in further detail with a new cast of characters.
A Quiet Place Part II managed to take in about $297 million at the global box office despite being in the pandemic, while also scoring a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. A third film that will serve as a direct sequel to the first two is also on Paramount’s schedule, but that project is slated to release in 2025.
Fans have quite some time to wait before returning to this world, which is technically a good thing because it gives fans time to miss the movies without running the risk of fatigue. The world of A Quiet Place is growing in other media, so hopefully, this spinoff only adds positively to the legacy
A Quiet Place: Day One is slated for a theatrical release on September 22, 2023.
