The team sent out a statement saying the veteran slugger initiated the meeting, which included principal owner Hal Steinbrenner, team president Randy Levine and general manager Brian Cashman.
“There was an honest and frank discussion on all of the issues. As far as the Yankees are concerned, the next step is to play baseball in spring training.”
It remains to be seen how big a role A-Rod will play this year after missing the entire 2014 season while under suspension.
Team officials initially seemed disinclined to meet with the disgraced slugger, saying they would treat him like any other player and see him at spring training, but relented last week.
Rodriguez also has said he plans to issue a public apology upon arrival in Tampa.
