Yankees manager Joe Girardi said after the game that Rodriguez felt tightness in his oblique while he was warming for an at-bat in the top of the sixth inning. Rodriguez was 1-for-2 with an RBI double before leaving the game.

“Any time someone leaves with an oblique you’re not very optimistic about it because they take a while, depending on the severity of it,” Girardi said via Twitter video. “Even when players feel ready, I still don’t think they have the strength. Yeah, I worry.”
Rodriguez is batting just .145 with two home runs and six RBI this season, so it’s unlikely New York will rush him back.
