The team, the players’ union and Rodriguez’s representatives have made “quiet progress” in recent weeks on a plan to distribute the $6 million bonus Rodriguez is due for hitting his 660th home run to a variety of charities, Fox Sports reports.

The deal isn’t done yet, but the proposal calls for the money to be divided among several charities selected by Rodriguez and Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner.
That would seem as amicable a solution as possible to the dispute, which centers on a marketing agreement the slugger signed with the team, but the Yankees have said they will not follow through after Rodriguez missed the entire 2014 season while serving a PED suspension.
And even if this agreement comes to fruition, there are more potential hurdles to be cleared in the coming years. Rodriguez also would be due $6 million bonuses for reaching each of the three magic numbers on the career home run list — the totals of 714, 755 and 762 put up by Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron and Barry Bonds — and another $6 million for passing Bonds.
