The A’s were the only MLB team to decide to stop paying minor leaguers starting June 1, but club owner John Fisher has now committed to paying them their weekly $400 stipend through the end of the minor league season.
“I changed my mind after spending a lot of time talking to our team,” Fisher told the San Francisco Chronicle. “I concluded I’d made a mistake.”

The original decision to stop paying players was immediately met with backlash from players and fans. Fisher clearly heard what they had to say.
“I’ve listened to our fans and others, and there is no question that this is the right thing to do,” he told the Chronicle’s Susan Slusser. “We clearly got this decision wrong. These players represent our future and we will immediately begin paying our minor league players. I take responsibility and I’m making it right.”
