Despite the critical acclaim and resounding praise from fans, Bloodborne has not been playable for everyone who has wanted to. Bloodborne released in 2015 for the PS4, and was eventually brought to PlayStation Now, Sony’s game streaming service, but has yet to be officially released on any other platform or console. Although the game is technically playable on PC through PlayStation Now, for years now, fans have been calling for an offiicial PC release of the game. This has resulted in many rumors of a PC port’s development, a history worth examining itself.

Bloodborne: Grant Us Eyes (for a PC Port)

Truthfully, making sense of Bloodborne’s PC rumors has become quite an ordeal. A solid place to start would be with PlayStation bringing Horizon: Zero Dawn to PC in 2020, a landmark development, as it has been many years since PlayStation has released one of its first-party exclusive titles on PC. Immediately this set the precedent that if Horizon: Zero Dawn, and shortly after Day’s Gone and Death Stranding could make their way to PC, then Bloodborne should certainly be able to as well.

Throughout 2020 and into 2021, Bloodborne PC port rumors would come and go, many slating an announcement for sometime this year, but in June 2021, they would catch a second wind. Around this time saw the emergence of a supposed Bloodborne “Hunter’s Edition,” a remaster bringing the game with new content to PS5 and PC. One of the largest drawbacks of the original game is its 30FPS framerate, which the “Hunter’s Edition” on PC would resolve by capping the game at 60FPS. This rumor would eventually fizzle away as others have, but the upcoming release of Elden Ring has kept the desire of a Bloodborne PC port in the forefront of fans’ minds.

More recently, the rumors and anticipation are at the highest they’ve ever been. So much so, that a fan created a Bloodborne leak generator, just to show how repetitive this has become. At the same time though, the current rumors provide some of the best evidence of a Bloodborne PC port than has ever been available prior.

For starters, PlayStation’s acquisition of Bluepoint Games, the team behind last year’s Demon’s Souls remake, is rumored to be working on both a Bloodborne remaster as well as a new project with the Bloodborne IP. Additionally, Sony has launched its PlayStation PC brand, which after the announcement of God of War coming to PC, makes a Bloodborne PC port seem more possible than ever.

Bloodborne is currently available on PS4.
