Los Angeles Clippers Preview
After a lengthy wait, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard finally played together for the first time last week. With the superstar duo on the court, the Clippers managed to improve their record to 12-5 thanks to wins over the Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, and the New Orleans Pelicans.
While George and Leonard understatedly continue to receive much of the media attention, LA’s roster remains one of the best in the NBA, and both Patrick Beverley and Montrezl Harrell put in big performances in Week 5. With a full roster available for the first time, Doc Rivers will be eager for his team to hit top form in the weeks ahead as the Clippers attempt to make up ground on the Los Angeles Lakers.
Key Player - Paul George
During his first two weeks with the Clippers, George has averaged 25.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game. However, the 29-year-old hasn’t shot the ball well over the past week, and his ability to make shots will be crucial in Dallas.
Clippers Predicted Lineup:
Kawhi Leonard, Maurice Harkless, Ivica Zubac, Paul George, Patrick Beverley
Dallas Mavericks Preview
Heading into the season, the Dallas Mavericks appeared set to face an uphill battle to qualify for the playoffs in a crowded Western Conference. However, they have won five straight games to improve to 11-5 for the season, and they enter the game against the Clippers coming off the destruction of the Houston Rockets on Sunday.
While Kristaps Porzingis has yet to hit top form, the Mavs have recorded at least 137 points in each of their last three games, and only the Milwaukee Bucks are averaging more points per contest.
Key Player - Luka Doncic
Luka Doncic was outstanding during his rookie year although the 20-year-old has taken a huge jump so far this season. The Slovenian is averaging 30.6 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 9.8 assists per game - and he will once again be the key man for the Mavs.
Mavericks Predicted Lineup:
Kristaps Porzingis, Dorian Finney-Smith, Dwight Powell, Tim Hardaway, Luka Doncic
Clippers vs Mavericks Match Prediction
Both teams have impressed over the past week, and there will be plenty of eyes on this early season matchup. While the Clippers have Leonard and George healthy, they have won just one of their opening five road games this season, and another huge performance from Doncic should be enough to secure a win for the Mavericks.
