Milwaukee Bucks (19-3): 127-103 win over the Detroit Pistons (4th December)
Los Angeles Clippers Preview
Paul George and Kawhi Leonard didn’t feature together during the first month of the season, and the Clippers were slightly underwhelming during that period. However, the All-Star duo are now healthy and firing, and LA’s 117-97 win over the resurgent Portland Trail Blazers was their ninth win in ten games.
With George and Leonard, the Clippers’ defense has looked formidable at times, and Doc Rivers’ team will only get better over the coming weeks. Patrick Patterson also enjoyed a breakout performance against the Pistons, while the likes of Montrezl Harris and Lou Williams are offering excellent input from the reserve unit.
Key Player - Paul George
After recording just five points against the Spurs last week, George has bounced back by dropping 31 points on the Wizards before recording 25 points against the Pistons. The 29-year-old is now averaging 23.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists, and his performances will continue to improve as he fully recovers from shoulder surgery.
Clippers Predicted Lineup:
Kawhi Leonard, Maurice Harkless, Ivica Zubac, Paul George, Patrick Beverley
Milwaukee Bucks Preview
Over the first week of the season, it looked as though the Milwaukee Bucks would struggle to cope with the offseason departures of Malcolm Brogdon and Nikola Mirotic. However, the Bucks have found form over the past month, and Wednesday’s win over the Detroit Pistons was their 13th consecutive victory.
Giannis Antetokounmpo has been able to find another level following his MVP winning 2018-19 season, while several role players have also been able to step up. No team is averaging more points per game (121.1) while Milwaukee’s defense has been much improved over the past two weeks.
Key Player - Giannis Antetokounmpo
Antetokounmpo looked to be approaching his prime last season, although the 24-year-old has even better during the early weeks of the 2019-20 campaign. Over 22 appearances, Antetokounmpo is averaging career highs in points (31.0) and rebounds (13.2), and he will take the game to George and Leonard.
Bucks Predicted Lineup:
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, Eric Bledsoe, Wesley Matthews
Clippers vs Bucks Match Prediction
The Clippers and Bucks could eventually meet in the 2020 NBA Finals, and this is a huge early-season matchup. With three of the NBA’s top 10 players on show, there will be no shortage of excitement, although the Bucks should have enough to come away due to LA’s poor form on the road (3-5).
