In these ways, he outshines the Bard, which is generally considered to be a slightly stronger support unit but needs precise targeting and can’t help out much at all in the damage department. This sounds great for the endgame, but if Lost Ark gamers can’t survive to see the endgame, it’s all an exercise in futility.

Ditch The Support

Paladins are nearly expected to support in late-game raids and dungeons, but while leveling, support is next to meaningless. The Paladin’s support skills aren’t strong until he gets access to more skill points and that’s not going to happen until well after hitting fifty.

So instead of honing in on those eventual support skills, try to level up as fast as possible. That means taking an extra 30% damage instead of a 10% shield or benefit to other players. These things will have their place eventually, but Paladins need the extra damage for themselves early on.

Use Instant Death Holy Skills

Melee skills are nice for some classes but they just aren’t quite what they need to be for the Paladin. They are slow and often put the character in unnecessary danger. And, counter to how support classes work in other games, there is not a convenient method for the Paladin to heal himself or anybody else for that matter.

New players to the game should know that to make battles end as quickly as possible, it takes a strong burst of damage all at once. Sword of Justice and Godsent Law, for example, will kill any standard enemy they hit before they can escape.

Fight From Afar

In dungeons where enemies have too much health to be killed outright, take a backseat and let the melee classes do their work. They have a means of dodging vicious blows and evading damage while the Paladin is exposed in these situations.

The tendency can be for players to try and mix up their ranged skills with a few melee skills. At this stage of the game, it’s better to put all of the eggs into the basket of four or five holy skills and just ditch melee fighting altogether.

Lost Ark was released on December 4th, 2019, and is available on PC.
