Along with classic elements of the genre like dungeons, raids, guilds, and a variety of PvE and PvP combat, Lost Ark features five classes that will be familiar to many gamers that favor an RPG. With the option to choose between ranged, stealth, melee, and magic, players will have lots of options when it comes to deciding how they’ll approach combat and the best variety of abilities that suit their playstyle. But for gamers looking for a more traditional and well-rounded melee fighter, they can’t go far wrong with the Warrior class.

Lost Ark’s Warrior Class

For many RPG games, the Warrior class (or its equivalent) is usually a solid choice for players looking for good all-around stats and grounded gameplay. They can sometimes be a little easier to handle than classes that require finesse or more strategic combat, as in some games players can literally just smash through enemies and focus on straight-forward melee moves to take out foes. While they may not be the most mobile of classes or have the best moves in terms of flash and aesthetics, they usually have high survivability and health to help their staying power in fights. In Lost Ark, the Warrior class does embody a lot of these stock characteristics, but there are some interesting elements that make it an intriguing choice.

Warrior Subclasses

While overall Lost Ark’s Warrior class relies on hacking, slashing, and bashing moves that might not be the quickest or most impressive to look at, they are no less effective at taking out enemies. After players choose the Warrior class, they can then eventually decide between three different subclasses. These are Berserker, Paladin, and Gunlancer – specializations that each offer various abilities and skillsets. Warriors are very much the powerhouses of the game, with tank-like characteristics and destructive moves that more than make up for their lack of mobility.

The Berserker subclass is a typically powerful build, with high-damage attacks and strong defenses that rebuff enemy advances. With the option to enter a heightened ‘burst mode,’ Berserkers become an unstoppable attacking force with increased damage and movement speed that make them a formidable obstacle to foes. With moves like Berserk Fury, Crime Hazard, and Hell Blade, Berserkers are capable of felling enemies with mighty charged blows. Whirlwind allows them to spin around while inflicting damage with their greatsword, which will be a useful move if players become surrounded by adversaries.

The Paladin subclass is another classic RPG character build. With its combination of fighter and cleric, the class often has a link to some kind of religious elements along with its more deadly skills. In Lost Ark, Paladins have a “direct line to the powers of the gods,” which allows them to channel their might in an array of both defensive and offensive moves. Alithane’s Judgement is a useful and effective move that lets players emit a light that damages enemies while at the same time creating a protective barrier for players and their allies. Wrath of God uses elemental damage to take out nearby foes, and Execution of Justice is a similar spinning move to the Berserker’s Whirlwind.

Gunlancers wield a gun lance and serve as frontline warriors in terms of party dynamics. They can take the brunt of enemy attacks to shield their party members from taking too much damage, and focus very much on defensive moves. Even though their main value is as a damage sponge, this doesn’t mean Gunlancers can’t unleash ferocious attacks as well. Hook Chain allows players to throw out a barbed hook that deals damage to enemies, and then pulls them towards the Gunlancer for even more hit points. Fire Bullet is a shelling attack to take out foes at close range, showing the versatility of the Gunlancer’s moves and the variety of powers and abilities on offer in Lost Ark.
