RELATED: Lost Judgment: Every Kappa Statue (& Where to Find Them)

As well as Kuwana, several other characters from earlier Lost Judgment chapters also make their return, including Tesso and Ehara’s alleged victim, Yui Mamiya. Players will need to complete numerous investigations to unearth the truth and will finally get a chance to examine Sawa’s high school yearbook.

The Meeting at Survive

Upon his arrival at Survive, Tak will be invited to join Kuwana’s uncle at the bar. The former Yakuza will provide a bit more backstory for the Ijincho handyman, after which, players will need to select the “His real name is Kitakata.” dialog option to continue the conversation. It turns out that Kuwana wants his USB stick back, though Tak flat-out refuses to hand it over; preferring to give it to Tsukumo instead.

How to Beat Tesso and the Liumang White Masks

When Tak gets back to Yokohama 99, he’s confronted by Tesso and some of the Yokohama Liumang White Masks. This is a much tougher fight than the pair’s last head to head, however, with Tesso now having access to some new attacks including a couple of powerful midairs and an annoying projectile-based move that can inflict bleeding.

Tesso will also receive reinforcements midway through the fight, so players should be ready to switch back to Crane Style to thin the herd as and when needed. It’s worth noting that defeating Tesso alone won’t be enough to end the fight, with players needing to take out all of the accompanying white masks as well. Once they’ve done so though, Tesso and Tak will agree to a truce.

Analyzing the Footage on Kuwana’s USB Stick

With Tesso and Tak now “brothers,” players can finally head inside and find out what’s on Kuwana’s USB stick. It turns out to be a video of some high school kids bullying one of their classmates, which players will need to analyze. They should focus on the blond boy to the left, the girl holding the phone, the tall boy with dark hair, the bullying victim, and the timestamp in the bottom left-hand corner of the image.

Once all of the key players from the video have been identified, Tsukumo will pull out Sawa’s old yearbook and another investigative section will begin. Players can focus on the photos of all of the people shown in the video (apart from Shinya Kawai, who was expelled before the yearbook was printed) as well as Sawa and the teacher. Despite the many options though, the teacher is the only person whose photo needs to be examined to complete the investigation.

Examining the photo leads to Tak figuring out that the teacher in the yearbook wasn’t the class’ homeroom teacher at the time that the video was filmed. In fact, a little more digging reveals that the class’ teacher was actually Kuwana, or Kitakata, as he was then known. When asked about the former teacher’s motives, players should choose the “To get revenge on the bullies” option and then present the video as evidence.

Interrogating Mamiya

After checking up on Kaito at the hospital, players will need to return to Yokohama 99 to meet up with Sugiura. They should then hop in a taxi to Mamiya’s apartment and begin the interview by asking her if she remembers Mitsuru and whether she has seen Kitakata lately. Finally, players should question the authenticity of the groping incident and then show the bullying video as evidence.

Upon being confronted with the truth, Mamiya will clam up before sending a text message on her phone. Moments later, some of the masked men who attacked Sugiura and Tsukumo will show up and players will need to beat them in a fight. They’re not very strong, though they are all armed, so players should approach the encounter with an air of caution.

With her backup now defeated, Mamiya can do little to prevent Tak from taking her over to Higashi’s game center in Kamurocho. There, players should ask her about the bullying video and then listen to her story. Eventually, Kuwana will call and agree to meet Tak in exchange for Mamiya’s freedom, so players should head over to the Yagami Detective Agency as instructed.

Kuwana’s Confession

Kuwana will confirm a lot of the things that players learned from Mamiya while also providing some additional details. As soon as he learns that Mamiya is free though, he jumps out of the window which forces Tak to give chase. This leads the detective to an underground car park, where Kuwana’s students are once again lying in wait.

This fight is a little trickier than the last one as there are more opponents and they all have additional health. Even so, with the help of Crane Style, players shouldn’t have too much trouble taking them down. If they are, they can use Snake Style to disarm one of them and then go to town on the rest with a baseball bat.

Unfortunately, by the time the fight is over, Kuwana will be long gone. Luckily for Tak though, Mamiya is foolish enough to have hung around and attempts to clock him over the head with a baseball bat as he examines his would-be attackers. She’s once again apprehended and the chapter comes to an end.
