The Yakuza series has had released demos that were bite-sized portions of what to expect before release, giving fans a chance to briefly engage in the story, try out the combat, as well as explore a small portion of the overworld. These included some of its mainline games like Yakuza 6. This demo for Lost Judgment is no exception, with it setting up the major story threads and giving the player a taste of the combat and overworld traversal. However, this demo is currently only available on the Japanese PSN store.

As the demo is currently only available on the Japanese PSN storefront, if fans wanted to experience this new slice of gameplay, they would need to create a Japanese region PlayStation account to download it. Reportedly, some other regions can download this demo, but there’s no official word from RGG Studio or Sega when fans can get a chance to try it out. For fans worried that they’ll be lost with this demo, Lost Judgment’s demo has a set of English options available, meaning that they can be up to speed immediately.
The demo starts with Yagami tailing a suspect of a case he’s working on, with it eventually escalating into him scaling the side of a building and sneaking in. This portion then gives players a taste of Lost Judgment’s fluid combat and even chase mechanics. Once Yagami and Kaito solve the case, it then transitions to a courtroom scene, setting up Lost Judgment’s dramatic murder mystery.
The demo ends right after playing the game’s opening cinematic, telling players that there’s a lot more to come in the full game. This can be completed in roughly an hour to two hours, depending on skill and the player’s exploration. With so many things thrown at the player in the opening act, there’s a lot to be excited about concerning this sequel.
Lost Judgment releases on September 24 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
