The old home of former Yankees legend Lou Gehrig is up for sale in New York, the residence that Gehrig bought for his parents and stayed in until he married in 1933.

The house previously sold at an auction for $300,000, but requires “hundreds of thousands” of dollars in renovations. Real estate agent Arthur Scinta clearly thinks it’s worth the price, though, just for the historical value alone.

“You can imagine Mrs. Gehrig down here scrubbing his uniforms, scrubbing the grass stains out,” Scinta told CBS New York.

There have been attempts to turn the house into a historical landmark, but the previous owner rejected it.

Perhaps the Yankees might be interested in the purchase, although they’ve been pretty stingy lately.
