Delmas was slated for an MRI exam after his right leg buckled during a joint practice with the Panthers in Spartanburg, S.C., but NFL Media is reporting the initial diagnosis is indeed a torn ACL.

It was a difficult day for both sides, as Panthers receiver Kelvin Benjamin was carted off with a non-contact knee injury earlier in the morning.

Delmas, 28, most recently tore knee ligaments in a game Dec. 7 against the Ravens and has a history of leg problems. He missed time in 2011 and 2012 while with the Lions because of knee issues.

That track record played into the contract he signed with his hometown team last year, an incentive-based deal that rewards him for staying in the lineup. He re-signed on a similar framework earlier this year, with the Dolphins set to pay him a $46,875 per-game bonus in addition to his $1,475,000 base salary.
